If the loan funded prior to Fed&#039;s taking over, she will receive a notice on who will be taking over the mortgage.  She will owe the money to some company, it doesn&#039;t just go away.  The new company must abide to the note that your grandmother signed, they can&#039;t change the terms.</description>
